Opened in 1989, Beijing Kunlun Hotel is managed by Shanghai-based Jinjiang International Hotel Management Corporation. In 1996 it was awarded as the China's 50 Best Hotels China National Tourism Administration, while the American Academy of Restaurant and Hospitality Sciences presented Hotel Kunlun with its 36th Five Star Diamond Award.

In 2005, the hotel completed the renovation on the lobby and presented guests a well-appointed series of appropriately named Premier Deluxe Rooms. These initiatives demonstrate the hotel's commitment to maintaining excellence in both facilities and services.
