Beijing Novotel Peace Hotel
Address: 3 Goldfish Lane, Wangfujing, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100006, China Telephone: 86-10-6512 8833 Fax: 86-10-6512 6863 Official web site: http://www.novotel.com Location: 45 km to the Airport Built in 1982, the predecessor of Novotel Peace Beijing was to serve Asia-Pacific Conference. In 1988 foreign investment was introduced for its expansion. Now the hotel offers refurbished modern hotel rooms and a wide range of facilities including a massage centre, fitness centre, shopping, a sauna, indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi and beauty salon.
Novotel Peace Beijing is located in the traditional Wangfujing area, a zone full of big shopping malls and small shops. It is just 45-minute drive from the airport, 15-minute from the railway station and a short walk from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. There are total 338 rooms and suites in the hotel. Hotel rooms might appear a bit tired, but they are spacious, with sofa and table. Two complimentary bottles of water daily and air conditioning works well. If people want, they may open the window. Nice little sitting area created through couch, armchair and coffee table where people could sit in the evening. TV unfortunately offered only small selection of English channels (BBC and a Chinese channel featuring some English programs), no German channel. Bathroom appeared to be very clean and was quite spacious (separate room for shower). Showerhead is high enough for European heights, but could unfortunately not be removed. Toiletry articles are sufficient and re-supplied daily. Although the hotel is in the downtown area, there is little noise from outside in the morning.
