Including a park of 11,000 square meters, the Donghu Hotel occupies an area of 23,000 square meters and is made up of seven different buildings each of which has its own history and style. The grandest and most historical of all Donghu Hotel buildings is Building No. 7. A French style three-storey residence was built in 1925 as the residence of a banker showcasing the lavish lifestyle of the rich in Shanghai. The building was later the commercial affairs office of the former Soviet Union during the 1950s. Later on the building was taken by the China Communication Bank and as the United States Consulate before it is finally converted into a part of Donghu Hotel. Hotel services and facilities range from fitness centre, business center to beauty salon, concierge service and currency exchange.
The hotel is located on the northeastern part of Xuhui district, and bordering Huaihaizhong Street, a bustling street of malls and specialty shops.
