Xian Howard Johnson Ginwa Plaza Hotel: While the brand name may conjure memories of cheap motels and roadside diners in the U.S., Howard Johnson's has arrived in Xi'an in style. The award-winning hotel with its 198 deluxe rooms, highly acclaimed restaurants, advanced conference rooms and recreational facilities is one of the best in Xian. Opened at 6:00 am to ensure early departure guests, breakfast buffet is superb with lots of western & Asian food to choose from.

Well-trained staffs are attentive and pleasant. Breakfast was adequate. There are a few small shops in the hotel and you can find some basic items there.

Location

Ideally located immediately outside the famous South Gate, the Howard Johnson is a perfectly fine - but no better - place to stay. The ancient City Wall is just cross the street but people need to manage to find way to get across the street during rush hours. It takes about 5 minutes driving distance to major business and government districts. The hotel is 45 km from Xian Xianyang International Airport.

Rooms
Rooms are of a good size, though bathrooms are usually compact. The rooms are equipped with all necessary amenities from cable TV, air-conditioning system, hair dryer, mini-bar to telephone and in-room safe deposit box
