The Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve is situated on the central part of the Hengduan Mountains, on the slope of the section between the Baima Snow Mountain, the main peak of the northern part of Yunling Ranges, and the renzhi Snow Mountain. It is between Deqen County of the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Markam County in Tibet. The Yunling Range is the watershed of the Lancangjiang River and the Jinsha River. The snow lines in the reserve are sll at levels higher than 4,000 meters with perennial snow. Well preserved primitive forests in large areas are found here. It is a comprehensive natural entity well preserved.
