Hangzhou Broken Bridge Picture

Broken Bridge is known throughout China because it is the place where the mythical "Lady White Snake" met her lover on a rainy day in Hangzhou. The story is learned by students throughout China when they are still in primary school. What most Chinese don't know, is how Broken Bridge got its name. Apparently, on one occasion it snowed in Hangzhou and the snow on half the bridge melted while the other half stayed snowy. it looks as if a long white belt has been ripped apart on the bridge, thus earning the name "Melting Snow on the Broken Bridge".
