Gongtan Town Picture

Gongtan has long been the most well preserved old town in Chongqing. The town has beautiful wooden houses built on cliffs beside the river, with different parts of the structures protruding and the river flowing under them. Apart from wooden stilt houses, stone bridges are another signature of the town, each with a unique structure and intricate design. The original Ran family house, a landmark of the old town, has been preserved and relocated, as has Zhinülou, the Weaver Girl Building, that tells the story of a local girl who could cleverly weave cloth with beautiful patterns of lilies
