The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is not only a large-scale theatre with modern acoustics; it is also a landmark of Guangzhou, attracting millions of visitors annually.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is an octagonal palatial structure facing the south and occupying 60,000 sq. ft. The main building of the memorial hall is the ceremonial hall of 47m high and 2 stories containing 3,238 seats. The most special thing about this hall is that the 8 pillars were all hidden in the walls, reflecting the high standards of architecture. As for the decorations, the hall has red pillars and yellow walls. Together with the blue glass roof, the hall seemed magnificent, solemn and beautiful. The area around the pillars is decorated with colorful paintings that shimmer in beauty. The lintel of the main entrance has a hanging board with golden characters "Tianxia Weigong" written by Dr. Sun himself. It embodies tremendous momentum and appeal. There is a five-foot tall statue of Dr. Sun on the lawn outside the memorial hall, and there are the sculptured words of the "the Outline of the Foundation of the Country of the National Government" at the base of the statue. Since the hall has undergone various war periods, there were eight instances of renovation. The ventilation system, acoustics, seats, ceiling, corridors and bronze statue have all been renovated. At present, the memorial hall is not only a large-scale theatre with modern acoustics; it is also a landmark of Guangzhou, attracting millions of visitors annually.
