Day 1 Taiyuan / Pingyao (L)

Arrive in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi. Meet your guide and visit the Jinci Temple which is located at the foot of the Xuanweng Mountain to the southwest of Taiyuan, one of the most important historical relics under special protection of the State. After lunch, visit the Twin Pagoda Temple. The two pagodas of the Twin Pagoda Temple are the symbol of Taiyuan. Then you will drive to Pingyao Ancient City, one of the 4 ancient cities well preserved in China and it was evaluated as the most outstanding heritage in the world by UNESCO in 1997. Check in the Changyifeng guesthouse.

Day 2 Pingyao (B, L)

Full day explore the ancient town of Pingyao: walk on the city wall and shop at the Ming & Qing Streets. You will feel that you are back to the ancient Chinese history. Continue to visit the Qiao Family's compound, built in 1756 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). In modern times, the Qiao's Compound became famous due to Zhang Yimou's film "Raise the Red Lantern" (Da Hong Denglong Gao Gao Gua) which used the whole courtyard as its background in the film. In the evening, transfer to the railway station and board the train to the next destination.
