Huaguoshan Scenic Spot

Huaguoshan Mountain is located 7 kilometers southeast of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. It is the legendary home of the Monkey King who is a hero in the Chinese classical novel "Journey to the West. "

There are more than a hundred scenic spots. The mountain has many natural attractions, such as springs, waterfalls, caves and cliffs, and man made scenic spots like Buddha sculptures and temples which date back to the 7th century AD.

When climbing up Huaguoshan Mountain, we can see Monkey Stone. It attracts attention because it looks like a thin-cheeked monkey's head from a distance. The stone is situated as if to guard Huaguoshan Mountain. According to the local people, there are 72 caves in the area.

Huaguoshan Mountain is a verdant place, full of life and vitality with flowers and plants growing year round. The largest building in the scenic spot is Sanyuan Temple on the mountainside. It was initially built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Statues of three Gods, the Gods of Heaven, Earth, and Water are in the temple. Around the temple are many maidenhair trees some over 100 years old. Unlike most trees, these get their growth during the autumn season. Other attractions in Huaguoshan Mountain are the Yuhuang Pavilion, and Asoka Pagoda. Huaguoshan Mountain is one of China's most popular tourist attractions.
