Day 1 Datong
Today you will visit the Yungang Grottos. Consisting of a series of 53 caves, it is one of the three most famous grottoes in China. They were completed during the Northern Wei Dynasty (460-494 AD) and in scripted in 2001 as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in China officially. The unique mix of culture and artistic styles, especially a fusion of Buddhist art from India, architectural style from Greece and decoration motifs from Persia with Chinese culture set them apart from other grottoes in China. Afterwards, you will visit the Nine Dragon Screen that probably is the largest of its kind in China. Transfer to the hotel and rest.
Day 2 Datong / Hanging Temple / Yingxian Wooden Pagoda / Datong
In the morning drive to the Hanging Temple which is located 65 kilometers away from Datong and stands at the foot of Mt. Hengshan. Hanging on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge more than 50 meters above the ground, unique mechanical theory was applied to building this temple. Hanging Temple is the architecture marvel in the world. Then drive to Wooden Pagoda in Yingxian County. It is the oldest wooden structure extant today in China, and also the tallest among ancient wooden buildings of the world. Transfer back to Datong and service ends.
