Grotesque Peak Village

Cruising down the Lijiang River, you will be amazed by the striking beauty of thousands of mountain peaks towering over the river from far and near, retreating and fading quickly as the boat moves on. The beauty of these towering peaks is something that has inspired artists and writers for centuries. This area is called Grotesque Peak Village and people say that it used to be the training ground for Taiping Revolt Army in the Qing Dynasty. This group organized a revolt against the Qing Dynasty Government in the period 1851-1864.They were revolt against because they believed that they were being mistreated by the rulers of the day.
