Macau Nightlife

Nightlife in Macau is famous for its variety, frantic activity, mystery and cosmopolitan characteristics. There is a great variety of night entertainment in Macau. If you are looking for bars, you will find them in any five-star hotel and local pubs and music-bars. There you will find diversion together with a drink and unusual music, also a characteristic of Macau. Bars offer international, Brazilian, Latin or African music, many of them with live bands playing the customers' requests. Examples are the DD Disco, Embassy Bar at Hotel Mandarin, UFO at Jai Alai Complex, and the Jazz Club near the Kun Iam Statue. There are also a few pubs on Taipa Island. Just opposite the Macau Jockey Club, you will find the Irish Pub, Patio de Cantigas, and others.

Night show performances are another option for live entertainment. Besides bars, discos and show performances, you can always visit the Macau Casinos (open 24 hrs) and plunge into the frenetic world of gambling, a peculiar characteristic of the city. The Taipa Hippodrome (located in the Macau Jockey Club, Estrada Governador Albano de Oliveira) offers horse races with betting at night during the heat of the summer months. There are also night dog races (greyhounds) with betting in the Macau dog-racing stadium (located in Av. do General Castelo Branco).

Lisboa Tourist Complex

The four-story casino at the Lisboa Tourist Complex, the two decks of casino at the floating Macau Palace in the Inner Harbour, the Casino Jai-Alai close to the ferry terminal, the Hyatt Regency Macau, New Century, the Holiday Inn, Kingsway and Mandarin Oriental casinos offer probably the widest range of games in the world. Visitors to the casinos should read the sign at each entrance, urging players to chance only what they can spare at the gaming table. The casinos in Macau operate 24 hours a day.

Canidrome

Greyhound racing takes place at the Canidrome on Avenida General Castelo Branco. These races are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends starting at 8pm and there are 14 games on every racing evenings. Admission is 2 patacas for the public’s stand and 5 patacas for members' stand.
