Phoenix Airport is 20 km northwest of the city. There are more than 30 direct flights to Sanya from inside China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Wuhan, Qingdao. Nine international airlines fly into Sanyan from Singapore, HongKong, Malasia, Thailand, Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka.

You can take a taxi or a bus to the city centre. In addition there are direct buses to Sanya Bay and Dadonghai at the airport.

By Bus

Air-conditioned buses go from Haikou to Sanya every hour and the trip takes about three hours. The main bus station, in Sanya is at the Jiefang Road. Every 20 minutes, the buses return to Haikou.

Taxi

The various beaches and sights in Sanya are a fair distance apart. Taking a taxi or hiring a driver is the most convenient way to reach the destinations. Paying RMB5 for the taxi cost, you can get to the city center but to the scenic spot you should haggle on the price with the taxi driver first.

Generally from the city center to Sanya Bay the taxi cost is RMB25, to Dadonghai Beach RMB10 is enough, but to Yalong Bay you should pay RMB50.

Bus

In Sanya, there are 3 main bus lines: No.2 bus, No.4 bus and the bus from the direction of Yalong Bay.

Motorbike
Motorbikes are very popular in Sanya. However, generally they are operated illegally and are very dangerous .We suggest you not use them.

Renting Cars
If you want to have a comfortable trip, you can rent a car. Normally all hotels have this service. You can ask the price at the desk. Additionally there are many companies supplying this service. One can compare their prices and then make a final decision.

To hire a car you must put down RMB5,000 as a deposit. An ID card, return ticket, and driving license are necessary.
