Datong Transportation

Air

Datong Airport serves a very limited number of destinations, and deals mainly with cargo. It is located about 50km outside the city, and is accessible only by taxi (approx. RMB100). Most people who travel by air arrive and leave the area from the Taiyuan Airport.

Train

Datong Train Station is located at the intersection of Xinjian N. Road and Zhanqian Street, in the northern part of the city. As the traffic center of Shanxi Province, Datong's has a fairly complete railway network, with access to most of the major cities in China.

Taxi

Taxis in Datong are metered, and the price varies according to size of the vehicle. Most charge a base fee of RMB5 during the day and RMB6 at night with RMB1.2 for each additional 1km.

Bicycle

Most of the local hotels have bicycles for rent. Generally it costs RMB10 to 30 a day with a deposit of RMB200 to 300.
